Here's the most accurate way to set your critical toe-in. This tool mounts to your hub with a special high strength magnetic adapter.

The lower bar has notches for the tapes (included). Because everything is CNC machined to tight tolerances your toe-in is measured off the hub rather than wheels or tires. It will even stay level as you roll your car back and forth. You can even use your caster camber gauge in one easy setup using the special adapter (optional p/n 78446). Super quick, super accurate.
